If you have ever watched any of the award shows, such as the Emmy’s or the Golden Globes, you might have noticed that the television show Modern Family often sweeps through the television and comedy categories, and for good reason – it is pretty funny.
Not to mention, the cookbook based off of the show includes some tasty recipes, so I was pretty happy to discover this was the book of choice for the cookbook club that I joined.
Yep, I joined a cookbook club and it was awesome! Decided to make something a little simple at first from the cookbook, so I made Mitchell’s So-Cal Tomatillo Avocado Dip. So good! Not to mention, it was a big hit.
I had never made anything with tomatillos before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when the recipe called for broiling them – would it be like adding broiled tomatoes to the avocado mix? And what about the husks surrounding them? Do you include those too? Well, no for both of those. They stay pretty firm, even after broiling, and don’t have the true consistency of a tomato. And those husks, yeah they’re just like corn husks so you don’t eat them.
